At 6:03pm EST, a young hawk literally climbs the walls…err…screen…as Mom looks on. #fledgewatch in full effect

As of 11:57pm EST, all three young hawks are in the nest.  Mom is shading them from the hot sun.

Avenue A is alive with Hawk-mania

Downtown yarns, just under the nest, has created an amazing Red-tailed-hawk-themed window display!  Let’s start with the cutest eyasses ever…

As you can see, the display includes three adorable needle-felted eyasses (made by Leti), an authentic nest with some of the hawks’ favorite foods (made by Rita), a soaring Red-tail (made by Irina), and a little clutch of eggs (made by Cathy).  Come on down to check it out in person, if you can.  The photos don’t do it justice!

Both downtown yarns and neighbor Exit9 are on #fledgewatch and ready to lend a hand if there are any flight mishaps!  Many thanks to these great stores for their love of wildlife and fantastic window displays.

The hawks track their parents flying above and one of them keers like an adult for the first time!

As of 1:10pm EST, all young hawks are still in the nest. But the clock is ticking…

This is a first: Dad brought a rat to one pillar on the roof above the nest, then another, before bringing it to the hawks.
